How internal marks are worked out
Regulation 2021, clause 12.1: a theory course has at least two internal assessments, each for 100 marks. In each, 40 marks are for an individual assignment, case study, seminar, mini project or other experiential learning, and 60 for a written test. The 200 marks from the two are converted to 40 and rounded to the nearest whole number.
Internal = (IA1 + IA2) ÷ 200 × 40
Test marked out of 100?
Many colleges set the test for 100 marks. Scale it first: a test mark of 72 out of 100 is 43.2 out of 60.
Lab and integrated courses
Laboratory courses have 60 internal marks: 75 for the experiments and record, 25 for a lab test, converted to 60. Theory courses with a lab component have 50 internal marks.
